Lost flip flops and rubber boots on the beach are items that pollute the environment. Turned into recycled crafts they bring joy and happiness to people, provide money for food and help to clean the environment. Recycled crafts made with old rubber footwear
Kids toys that gave the inspiration for recycling old rubber footwear, make great souvenirs that provide food to poor families and help the environment.
Old rubber pieces on the beaches created an obstacle for turtles getting into the water, but within a few weeks kids started to clean beaches, collecting the rubber garbage for African craftsmen who use this material for their unique recycled crafts.
Now kids and their parents make money collecting old rubber from beaches. A rubber processing factory in Nairobi employs more than 40 people who wash the old rubber boots, snickers and flip flops, glued pieces together and create amazing, unique and colorful home decorations, kids toys and souvenirs from recycled rubber.
